What we do

We manage the process of importing, clearing, storing and delivering commodities and FMCG food items.

We are continuously evolving from the traditional role as an agricultural commodities merchant to master more of the food value chain. Through greater vertical integration within our business lines, we aim to secure a seamless, traceable and responsible supply chain from origin to end-consumers within the countries of consumption.

Offering our commercial and financial partners a more illuminated engagement with the commodity distribution opportunities in sub–Saharan Africa. Founded on business integrity and the strength of our word, we always deliver quality goods and services whist striving for sustainability and cost leadership. Our intention is to augment our business from being an importer and distributer of choice to a processor of add value food products, produced, and sold into Africa.

Our West African distribution business in Ghana and Sierra Leone are managed through Loundes Commodities Limited based in London, Loundes Commodities is a Joint Venture between Carfax Commodities and QP Foods.

Distribution locations

To understand in country complexities and to embrace opportunities in markets we operate in, we place emphasised focus on building strong and experienced local teams to drive value. They work closely with our local suppliers and customers to provide a portfolio of relevant product offerings, logistic solutions and other operational support.

Our strategically located network of warehouses and transport capabilities allows us to facilitate access to markets in Kenya and Ghana. They enable us to control costs, foster transparency, enhance traceability whilst mitigating risks throughout the product journey.

Kenya

We extend our value offering and supply chain traceability though our Kenyan distribution operation by offering local wholesalers, distributers, local and international manufacturers an ex-warehouse or delivered solution.

Flamingo Brands, our Kenyan business, distributes its own FMCG food brands in addition to being the appointed distribution agent for a multinational beverage manufacturer. In partnership with one of the Kenyan sugar producers, we distribute a retail sugar brand in various packet sizes. With the same producer we offer a delivered solution to the multinational industrial food Groups that wish to develop local African sourcing solutions.

Ghana

With Kenya, Ghana is one of the top 3 fastest growing economies in Africa. Importing just over 500,000 tonnes of white sugar annually, Ghana is the largest importer of this quality in West Africa. Continued consumption growth in staple food commodities added to unrelenting population and GDP growth offer a great opportunity to work together to enhance the food supply chain. We leverage on our structure to participate in the exports of agri commodities from Ghana and its neighbouring countries.

Our entity in Ghana, Carfax Commodities (Ghana) Limited imports, bonds, distributes and delivers sugar and rice through a network of warehouses. Our client base encompasses industrial food manufacturers, wholesalers and the “Mamas” who are the vibrant backbone of the Ghanaian commodity markets. The team also sources cashew nuts and not GMO soybeans, transports, cleans, rebags and exports them to markets in Africa, Asia and Europe.
