Our team

Pat is the Chief Executive Officer overseeing the global operations of the Carfax Group. A multi-disciplined professional, he has over 25 years of experience at the leading edge of global sugar trading and distribution.

Pat possesses an astute appreciation of diverse cultures and people gained from residing, extensive travel and transacting business within Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Africa. Born and raised in South Africa, Pat has a particularly profound connection with the African continent.

Pat graduated from Brunel University, London, in 1995 with an honors degree in Management Science. He began his career at Tate & Lyle PLC in 1996, joining their Group Treasury team. In 1999 he moved to Bangkok, Thailand, to strengthen the presence of Tate & Lyle in Southeast Asia. In 2007 Pat was invited to join Louis Dreyfus Commodities Suisse SA, Switzerland, as Global Head of White Sugar Trading and Distribution. In 2015 Pat was called on by Tereos, France, a global sugar, starch and ethanol producer, to inaugurate and lead their globally diverse merchandising, distribution and trading unit.

Pat established Carfax Commodities in 2019 with the vision to build a more client- focussed enterprise and further shape more responsible, sustainable behaviour within the commodities industry.

Chris is the Chief Operating Officer with more than 20 years of international experience spanning global commodities trading, financial services, and entrepreneurial ventures.

For over a decade, he held senior broking roles in the agricultural and energy markets, where he focused on driving growth, expanding market reach, and strengthening risk management practices. Along the way, Chris has successfully led large-scale projects – from launching new brands and building digital platforms to, most recently, overseeing the development and commissioning of Flamingo Commodities’ new packaging facility in Nairobi.

At the heart of it all, Chris is passionate about bringing out the best in teams, navigating complex trades, and keeping operations running seamlessly.

Chris joined Carfax in 2023 to assist with the company’s growth and help expand its presence across Africa

Oscar Nyamanga is the Commercial Director of Flamingo Brands, driving the business development strategy for the Kenyan distribution business.

A Kenyan national and graduate of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nairobi Kenya, Oscar started his journey with Unitary Analytics as a data analyst, then interning at the Kenyan Ministry of Mining under the Directorate of Resource Survey and Remote Sensing.

Having built a solid reputation in these roles, he joined Tereos in 2016 as a Sugar Market Analyst for East and Southern Africa, analysing sugar supply and demand for all COMESA and SADC countries.

In July 2018 Oscar was appointed the role of Kenyan Merchandising and Distribution Trader for Tereos and was the lead in sourcing COMESA sugar, managing Tereos’ relationship with COMESA sugar suppliers, and managing the group’s vital relationships with the Kenyan authorities.

He left to setup Flamingo Brands in January 2019.

Yaw Agyare is the Country Director of Carfax Commodities (Ghana) Limited, driving the business development strategy for the Ghana business.

Yaw is a Ghanaian national with an MBA in Marketing Strategy from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He is a distinguished leader in the agricultural and commodities sectors. In September 2021, Yaw was appointed as a Board Member and Advisor for FarmYield Africa, where he spearheads initiatives that empower African communities to unlock their agricultural potential. In February of 2020 Yaw set up Genshore Limited and serves as the Managing Director specialising in logistics optimization, storage, and risk management for commodities. Prior to Genshore, he held the position of Managing Director at Supreme Rice Limited, specializing in rice import and distribution.

Yaw’s extensive knowledge of the Ghanaian agriculture sector, coupled with his expertise in import/export and logistics management, makes him an invaluable asset to the Carfax Commodities team.

Yaw joined the Carfax Commodities (Ghana) Limited in November of 2024.
